I love creative spaces. Just check out this apartment. It has everything!
Enough room to enjoy friends coming over, a fully functional kitchen, a queen-sized bed, a balcony with a great view, and more, all in 250 square feet!
I think we all can take some ideas from apartments like this one. For example, my wife and I currently live in a small studio, and it is amazing how much we don't need.
Our first home was a 2-bedroom house with a huge living room, dinning room, gigantic yard, attic, and a shed. I grew up in similar houses, and I just couldn't imagine living without all that space. You know what I discovered though?
It is a pain to be responsible for all that.
I mean, I have to mow that huge lawn? My brothers and I won't take turns? And I have to keep the infrequently used office/spare room clean and organized too?
And, it is unbelievable how much stuff you can collect when you have an attic to throw it all in.
Now, we have almost everything we need in our little studio.
We have a kitchen, enough closet space, a sitting area for guests, a TV with a Wii.
Now, we're probably going to have to upgrade to a somewhat larger one-bedroom soon, but that's going to feel like a mansion compared to what we have now. I don't know what we're going to do with the extra space we're going to have.
We'll have everything we need, and it'll take less than 5 minutes to vacuum our entire home.
What can you live without? Just think through your daily life in your home. I'm sure there are plenty of appliances or pieces of furniture you almost never use. You may even have an entire room or two you haven't stepped into for months! When you move next, I suggest think small. Living with less gets rid of a lot more headaches than it creates.
